April 24, 2009 by Arieanna
Hilary Duff wants you to participate in the AIDS Walk in New York on May 17th. To help show her support for the AIDS Walk, which raises millions of dollars each year for HIV and AIDS research, Hilary participated in a Public Service Announcement / PSA video:
Hilary duff wears a “tough times won’t break my stride” t-shirt in the video, encouraging people to get tested, to protect themselves, and to participate in the AIDS Walk to raise funding for prevention, treatment and care.
Hilary Duff for Give 100 Campaign

As previously mentioned on the blog, Hilary Duff joined together with Nike and the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Livestrong, for a holiday campaign with Nike to help fight cancer. The campaign is called “Give 100″.100% of Nike’s profits from the new Livestrong collection of sportswear goes to the foundation. If you’re still looking for holiday gifts, consider the Livestrong collection so that your present can give back to others as well!
Hilary Duff took part in a photoshoot with photographer Walter Chin for a Nike Livestrong collection insert that will appear in the December issues of Lucky, GQ, Vanity Fair, Glamour and Self magazine. If you, like me, love to get a bunch of magazines over the holiday season, do look out for the special Livestrong campaign!

Hilary Duff Stands Up to Cancer
December 9, 2008 by Arieanna
Hilary Duff, who recently joined the Livestrong Campaign to support cancer research, will be co-hosting a charity event for Stand Up to Cancer on Wednesday.
Hilary Duff will co-host the charity event with Mandy Moore. The event will celebrate the launch of a collection of celebrity-designed holiday merchandise, to benefit Stand Up to Cancer. The event will be held at the Robertson Boulevard Kitson store, where the merchandise will be available for sale. Many of the celebrity designed pieces feature a star, which is a symbol for the Stand Up To Cancer Constellation - a feature of their website where you can launch a star for anyone you know with cancer.

Hilary was not attached to the event on December 2nd, but it now looks like she either replaced Dave Annable as co-host or is a 3rd co-host. To date, Stand Up To Cancer has raised over $100 million for cancer research programs.
“Today’s cancer scientists are on the verge of life-saving discoveries, but they desperately need the funds to mount an all-out assault. The money raised from the sale of these beautiful items will go directly to funding these important research programs. Together we will defeat this insidious disease.”

Hilary Duff on Prop 2 - Video
November 4, 2008 by Arieanna
Wow, I’m sad I didn’t know about this before the election today. However, I’ll post it anyway ![]()
Hilary Duff, along with other celebrities, created a video to encourage people to vote “Yes” on Proposition 2 for the ballots today in California.
Proposition 2 is the “Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act” and we know that Hilary stands strong on issues related to the humane treatment of animals. Many of her pets are rescue animals. I don’t believe the results of this vote have been released yet, but I hope Prop 2 passes!
Hilary Duff Video Podcast #78
Hilary Duff’s latest video podcast is a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of Hilary Duff’s PSA for GLSEN, in which Hilary cautions people not to use the word “gay” in a casual negative way. The podcast is good, but I do miss all the question/answer ones that Hilary was doing!
And, as a reminder, this is Hilary’s GLSEN PSA:
Hilary Duff for ThinkB4YouSpeak
October 8, 2008 by Arieanna
As mentioned before, Hilary Duff filmed a public service announcement that discourages bullying and harassment of teenagers who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
The Advertising Council, which co-ordinates public service campaigns, is introducing a series of ads meant to tackle these social issues. The campaign begins today, and was created pro bono by the New York based Arnold Worldwide.
The campaign is meant to educate teens and to encourage them to stop using derogatory language, particularly calling things “gay” in a negative way. Often hateful language is just the start, leading to hurtful behavior. It all starts with kids learning it’s ok to disrespect people. The theme of the campaign is:
“When you say, ‘That’s so gay,’ do you realize what you say? Knock it off.”
There will be television and radio commercials, print and outdoor ads and a special Web site devoted to the campaign (thinkb4youspeak.com). In Hilary Duff’s tv commercial, she talks to some girls who call an outfit “gay” instead of “bad”, and explains how silly it is to say that. Check out the video:
Take some time to review the ThinkB4YouSpeak website - are you using cruel language and perhaps you don’t even know it?
