Early this afternoon, Hilary Duff flipped the switch in a ceremony to honor the AIDS Walk fundraiser coming up this weekend in New York. The ceremony lit the Empire State Building up in red lights for 24 hours. While at the event, Hilary Duff went to the observation deck for a photoshoot:

Hilary Duff graces the cover of Maxim’s January 2009 edition, and one behind-the-scenes photoshoot video has already been released. E! Online has released a second, longer, version of the photoshoot video!

Hilary Duff shares how exciting it is to be featured on Maxim magazine:

“It’s so exciting, you know, to be on the cover of this magazine. I’ve done it once before and then, I guess it’s just an honor, you know what I mean? To kind of get that title is huge. I work really hard, but you never expect things like this to come around. I guess it’s… it’s just exciting.”

Also, Hilary was seen heading to a Christmas party with her mom Susan at George Lopez’s house.

As previously mentioned on the blog, Hilary Duff joined together with Nike and the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Livestrong, for a holiday campaign with Nike to help fight cancer. The campaign is called “Give 100″.100% of Nike’s profits from the new Livestrong collection of sportswear goes to the foundation. Hilary Duff took part in a photoshoot with photographer Walter Chin for a Nike Livestrong collection insert that will appear in the December issues of Lucky, GQ, Vanity Fair, Glamour and Self magazine. Access Hollywood aired a behind-the-scenes look at Hilary Duff’s new photoshoot with Maxim Magazine for their 2009 edition. It gives a summary of the interview, as well as some fantastic footage of the photoshoot:

Hilary Duff posed in a brand new photoshoot for Maxim Magazine, after the success with her very steamy Maxim cover in 2007. The January 2009 edition of Maxim Magazine features a “Young Hot Hollywood” edition, with the “Sexiest Stars of 2009“, which Hilary Duff is on the list for!

The start of the article compares Hilary Duff’s image to those of Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. They showcase Hilary’s strong career and “killer body”, and how Hilary is exploring her “darker, sexier side” now that she’s turned 21. They talk about all three of Hilary’s upcoming movies, Greta, Stay Cool and Safety Glass.

In the interview, Hilary Duff talks about the sexy image in her ‘Reach Out’ music video, about different hair colors, all of her movies, and her good girl image, which Hilary says can “work against you!” Hilary Duff also talks about her relationship with Mike Comrie (no, she’s not engaged).

The new photoshoot is just as sexy as the 2007 one, with a lot more Hilary attitude. And she seems way more comfortable here too, I think. Since I can’t share the images legally, I will link to high quality scans of the entire Hilary Duff feature:

After having breakfast with her mom Susan, Hilary Duff went grocery shopping for about an hour in Studio City. I was glad to see that Hilary was using paper bags instead of plastic, but definitely would love to see her use re-usable bags. Go green!

Although we’ve already seen some behind-the-scenes footage from the US Weekly shoot, Hilary Duff’s latest podcast gives us her personal video coverage!

So, as you can see from the video above, it’s a lot more casual. There’s more up-close footage of Hilary posing (so complicated to set up) in the beautiful pink gown. Just look how many people it takes to make the photoshoot happen!

It’s a great video of the shoot, giving you shots from the spread, but also some video interview with all of the girls. Mostly talking about shopping. They “spend a lot” on shopping - like other girls, but also because it’s part of their job. Which it totally is!

Hilary says she doesn’t have a defined style - it’s interesting to hear Hilary describe it. Hilary also talks about her upcoming movies.
