“Greta” to Show at Cannes
May 13, 2009 by Arieanna
Hilary Duff’s coming-of-age movie, Greta, will be previewed at the Cannes Film Festival this week.
The news states that Voltage Pictures acquired the teen drama. No other details yet, but it’s great to hear the film has found a distributor and will be screened (I think that’s what the news means(.
About “Greta”
Hilary Duff stars as Greta, a 17-year-old girl struggling with feelings of suicide. Pushed aside by her mother Karen, Greta goes off to her grandparents (Ellen Burstyn, Michael Murphy) in Ocean Grove for the summer… against her will. She makes it known that she wants to kill herself during the summer, and compiles a book of suicide methods. It’s not until Greta falls for the short-order cook (Evan Ross) at the diner where she works, and realizes that people care for her fate, that things change. Check out the trailer for the film here.

Hilary Duff at Tribeca - Videos
April 27, 2009 by Arieanna
Hilary Duff was in New York on the early part of the weekend for the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie, Stay Cool. Here are some videos of Hilary talking to the press on the red carpet:
Hilary explains her role as Shasta, the “major flirt”, in Stay Cool. One of the reporters at the festival says that Hilary was very gracious on the red carpet, making sure to talk to each of the reporters in turn. To this reporter, Hilary talks about how sometimes she wishes there was an “off” switch for her life, saying she’d sometimes like to be more anonymous and do what she wants all day. That said, Hilary “would never change” her life.
And here’s a more candid video of Hilary at the Stay Cool afterparty (so loud!):
“Stay Cool” Reviews
Hilary Duff attended the Tribeca Film Festival World Premiere for her movie, Stay Cool, over the weekend. Now that a few days have passed, I wanted to gather together a few of the reviews of the film.
First, a quick comment from Hilary’s co-star Mark Polish, who gives Hilary “10 out of 10″ for her kissing skills in the film. Cute. The official Festival blog says the movie is “sweet” and “funny”, with a terrific soundtrack, and delves into a Q&A with the Polish brothers, who admit the film reflects “every mistake [they] made in high school.”
On imdb, a fan posted that the movie had “quirky characters”, makes you laugh, and had memorable lines. He offers some insight into the film, saying it’s like 17 Again in reverse for the main character, Henry (Mark Polish). The review has spoilers, but offers great insight into the direction of the film. “What Goes Up” Premiere Dates
April 27, 2009 by Arieanna
Hilary Duff’s movie, What Goes Up, will be premiering in just over a week at the Buffalo Niagra Film Festival on Friday, May 8th at 7:15PM (join the Facebook group for contest opportunities).
The insider blog for the movie has just announced a whole other round of premieres for the film. The theatrical premiere (outside of film festival premieres) will be on Thursday, May 28th, with opening in more theaters the next day, May 29th.
What Goes Up will premiere in LA on May 28th, with First Run Cities the next day including Buffalo, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Las Vegas, LA, Minneapolis, New York, and two in Canada: Toronto and Vancouver.
If the release goes well in these cities, the movie hopes to continue expanding to more theaters. So the success of the film, and where it goes to, is based upon how well you, the fans, respond to the movie!
According to the blog post, there will be a contest coming up to win tickets to the LA premiere, including airfare and hotel!

Hilary Duff at “Stay Cool” Afterparty
April 24, 2009 by Arieanna
Hilary Duff and her Stay Cool co-star Chevy Chase got close and cuddly at the afterparty for held for the world premiere of their film.

Hilary Duff changed out of the mini skirt and tank she wore for the premiere and opted for a more casual look for the after-party. According to a conversation Hilary had at the party, Hilary Duff shared that her experience at Tribeca feels very short!
“I just came to the premiere and I have other stuff to do. I don’t get to hang out and watch a lot of movies but of course I enjoy this part of it (the partying). It’s just exciting to have another movie here — one of those memorable experiences.”
Hilary Duff says she’ll soon be on Twitter!! Her assistant just set up an account for her, which she plans to start using soon:
“I didn’t start Twittering yet… I’m really slow. You should see me on the Internet. I’m really bad on the Internet. If I have to find something or look something up, Mike has to be, ‘I’ll show you!’”
Can’t wait! The only existing “Hilary Duff” twitter accounts already have lots of updates, so I’m not sure if those are the “real” ones yet! Read more

First “What Goes Up” Premiere Date!
April 15, 2009 by Arieanna
James Hoke, executive producer for Hilary Duff’s What Goes Up (originally Safety Glass), put up a blog post today talking about the process of making the movie and some news about its release.
The first theatrical release for What Goes Up will be at the Buffalo Niagra Film Festival on May 6th at 9:30PM. However, the site also lists a premiere of Friday, Friday, May 8th at 7:15PM (buy tickets here), so I’ll be confirming which is the right date. There’s no word if Hilary will be there for the premiere.
After this premiere, What Goes Up will be shown in major cities across the US, with a planned release in Los Angeles, New York, Chicao, and Las Vegas. More cities will be coming and I’ll keep you updated as the production crew releases details. If you guys get behind the film by going to the releases and building up the buzz, maybe we can see it all across North America!
James describes his time with Hilary Duff as fantastic, saying she was generous with her time off camera (”an amazing person”) and that she delivered a great performance in the film. He talks about the new song Hilary Duff recorded for What Goes Up, saying that Hilary wrote the song while on set in Vancouver. The song is called “Any Other Day.”
In terms of the DVD, James confirms that the release date is still fuzzy. It may be delayed if the theatrical release goes well, or it may release while the movie is still in theaters. For those of you in other countries, James says to keep up support for the film and details on release are forthcoming.

Hilary Duff “War Inc” DVD Interview
The video above is part of the DVD extras for War, Inc.
In the video interview, Hilary Duff talks about working with Marisa Tomei and how supportive she was of Hilary on set. Hilary Duff’s very first scene for this movie was a big dramatic scene where she was crying and the camera was zoomed way in, so I can imagine that being a stressful scene to film!
Hilary talks about feeling lucky to portray a character so different from herself, and to work with this great cast. And yes, she talks about the scorpion
It’s a nice interview!
