Haylie Duff in “Love Takes Wing”
July 31, 2008 by Arieanna
Haylie Duff is set to star in a Hallmark Channel original movie entitled Love Takes Wing. This is one of 30 original movies that the Hallmark Channel has planned. Cloris Leachman will co-star.
Love Takes Wing is based upon the Love Comes Softly franchise that is based on eight novels by Janette Oke. The series deals with relationships in the Old West.
Haylie Duff will star in Love Takes Wing, which is the seventh title in the series. It follows the story of Belinda Davis (Haylie Duff), a nurse working with her older brother, Doctor Luke. As friends marry and start families, Belinda gets restless and being a nurse seems dull and routine in comparison. Belinda decides to take an invitation to Boston to tend to an elderly woman (Cloris Leachman) needing care and is able to experience cultural life not open to her in her prairie town. Even then, Belinda wrestles with being lonely and empty inside.
Love Takes Wing will air on the Hallmark Channel in the first quarter of 2009.
Hallmark has previously aired the first 6 books by Janette Oke in movie adaptations: Love Comes Softly, Love’s Unending Legacy, Love’s Unfolding Dream, Love’s Enduring Promise, Love’s Abiding Joy, and Love’s Long Journey.

ok.very good video.
I want to know when the movie Love Takes Wing will air on TV and what channel.
the discription of this movie doesn’t sound like it follows the previous Movie, Loves Unfolding Dream. Cause in that movie Belinda gets married adn then heads to Boston for studies. It sounds like in the discription that she is not married yet. and who is her older brother Luke, I have never heard mention of him before. Belinda was the oldest in her original family and only has younger brothers.
Some one please explain why this whole Love Takes Wing movies sounds wrong …
I am also confused, this deffiantly dows not follow with org. story lines — I love this series and will be extremly dissaponted if this is really how the movies goes. from what I have seen this is the same desc. as the book with same title and as with most movies they are slightly diff than the book so I hope that is the case here
In the books Belinda is Clark and Martys child not Missys.
I do not understand this synopsis at all. I thought Belinda was Missy’s daughter and Clark and Marty were grandparents. I thought she married and then went to Boston with a wealthy benefactor to study to be a doctor NOT nurse. Why all the changes? And what happened to Michael Landon Jr directly? This might explain the problems.
In the book Belinda is clark and martys daughter, but in the movie they changed it and she was Missy’s adopted daughter. I agree, they never mentioned an older brother before, just Jacob the younger one. I also will be very disappointed it they change it. We’ll see!
Stop if you are reading the books, MAJOR SPOILERS
-Luke is Belinda’s brother in the book “Love Takes Wing” (AKA: Dr. Luke) and Luke is present in books before that one.
-Belinda wants to become a “nurse” and at 11 years old she starts making house calls with Luke.
-She never goes for formal training to be a “nurse” in the books.
-She does go to Boston though.
-Belinda only had the younger brother in the movie #5 (and Belinda mentioned to Missie in the movie that she helped take care of her baby sister, but that baby died).
-In the book Belinda was Clark and Marty’s youngest child. Almost the same age as several cousins (Missie’s 3rd child (Melissa) in the book and CLARE (who is Aaron in the movie) oldest children, Amy Jo.
Just FYI: Willie and Missie are still living on the farm out west and he is ALIVE. Ellie (another sister to Missie and Belinda) joins Missie out west when she marries Lane (who worked for Willie).
It’s seems to me that the director/screen writer are attempting to somewhat come back to the book version. Well the book and movie versions were different from the beginning and only getting more and more off from that first movie. I think this one might be WAY OFF and no one will understand (it may be possible to understand if you have read the books, but now books and movies are all jumbled up).
I look forward to giving this movie a chance though. And it’s too late to go back and fix things now (they’d have to start from scratch).
Books becoming movies: Here is MAJOR PROBLEM they don’t stay true to the books. And end up just screwing it all up. People should learn (hint, hint: directors and screen writers out there) don’t screw up the book (or this case 8 books) by making them into movies if you can’t stay somewhat true to the book. You can add things to make it more interesting to watch, but keep it true to the books.
I just finished reading all 8 books and watching all 5 DVD’s I have. I loved the movies before and didn’t have a clue about the books. But now I am not so sure how I feel about the movies because it was so far from the books. I like the book version (which should have been made into movies).
Why can’t authors be there saying “yes” or “no” from the beginning. Authors, there are reasons they thought your books should be made into a movie, why let them tear it up into pieces.
STAY TRUE TO BOOKS, add little things here and there if need be or change it a little from the book. But don’t create a totally different book (to make a movie) with the same title. HINT: change the title (it no longer goes with it anyway).
I think they should have stayed with the storyline from the previous movie. I haven’t read the books but was waiting to see Love Takes Wing after Belinda gets married, to my disappointment they changed the storyline.
I haven’t read the books, but I have seen the movies, this is not the correct description of the movie. Haylie Duff plays Belindas’ friend. They are both doctors in a town that has an unknown disease that is killing orphans in the town. Cloris Leachman is the caretaker of the orphans.
I’m watching it right now. I think everyone will be pleased bc it does follow with the previous movie. Nothing like the books at all though. That part makes me sad.
WOW!!! You can stop all the complaining that this movie doesn’t follow all the other Love Comes Softly series. It’s just like when Missy lost Willie and moved on to live near her parents. Belinda lost Drew and moved on. This was an awesome movie. Can’t wait to buy it.
The movie is not as described in the synopsis here. Haylie Duff plays Belinda’s friend. I like the old Belinda better. This one is ok but the wig that they gave her to wear is hideous. Movie is pretty good though.
