Elly May
Elly May was a strong capable girl. She could throw a fastball as well as wrestle any man to a fall. She was as stunningly beautiful as she was naïve, and was squired about by eager young Hollywood actors with stage names like “Dash Riprock” and “Bolt Upright”. (Obvious puns on the actors Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Gig Young, and Rip Torn.) Dash Riprock was a particularly interesting character who made several appearances — he was torn between his attraction to Elly and some sympathy for Jethro and his fear of “those crazy Clampetts.”
Elly May’s name was an homage to the character of Ellie May Lester in the Erskine Caldwell rural life novel Tobacco Road. The book was also made into a long-running play. In 1941, it was adapted into a comedy-drama movie directed by John Ford, and featured Gene Tierney as Ellie May who, at the age of 23, was considered an “old maid.”

jj, u dont know if its gonna last or not, Ur not them. Stop saying things as facts! Ur always saying ” you dont know nothing about their relationships, ” and now ur the one who’s talking like if u know, when u dont. Maybe they love each other already, maybe not, maybe they just like each other alot, and thats it, u dont know. Well, if Hilary love’s him, i hope they last, and i hope he love’s her too. And if Hilary’s happy then everythings cool, and we cant say we like him or not cuz we dont know him, we dont know if he’s nice or not. You dont know if all those nasty rumours about him are true or not, u cant say they are cuz u dont know! So stop judging him and saying bad stuff about him when ur not sure! Would u like it if they say all this nasty rumours about Hilary and ppl keep judging her and stuff? No, huh? U would say, ”thats not true!” well then, there u go! Is just like dat! If ur smart, u’ll understand, cuz is hard to explain it that well. Anyway, Hilary looks so cute! Peace!
